About this place
Fancy a generous bowl of champon, or noodles you can season just the way you like? Hinokiya offers both. One diner's report describes the vegetable-packed champon as a bowl of medium-thick noodles in a cloudy pork-bone broth, topped with plenty of stir-fried vegetables. Pork, squid and prawns join cabbage, bean sprouts and more, making it a substantial meal. Another visitor noted a chicken-bone flavour in the soup and enjoyed how it balanced with the noodles. It's an appealing option if you're in the mood for a meal centred on vegetables.
For noodles served to be mixed, there's abura soba made with domestic wheat noodles. Add garlic if you like, and adjust the flavour at the table with vinegar or chilli oil. You can start without settling on a particular seasoning and tweak it as you eat. The spicy Taiwanese mazemen is another bowl to mix from the bottom up. One visitor enjoyed its rich seasoning and heat, then added rice with cheese to the sauce left in the bowl as a finishing touch. This small add-on is listed on the menu and makes a satisfying way to round off the meal.
The menu also includes noodle soups such as chuka soba, salt and soy-sauce ramen made with Awaodori chicken, and black ramen with black pepper. Toppings include combinations of pork and rare chashu, as well as seasoned egg and menma bamboo shoots. Lunch sets include fried chicken with rice and chicken nanban with rice. Gyoza are available during evening service, too, with beer as an option to go alongside. The restaurant is in Seiku, Joto Ward, Osaka City, and is described as suitable for solo dining.
Some dishes, including limited-time noodles and a monthly mazemen, change over time. If you have a particular dish in mind, check the latest menu before visiting.
